The world we live in has changed very fast since your grandparents were children. At that time, horses and wagons did much of the work that trucks do today. There were no television sets, no air conditioners, no computers, no trips to the moon. Nobody worried about pollution, or shortage of fuel.
Some of the changes that have come about—especially in medicine—have been very good for us. Others have not been so good.
Scientists and inventors are working all the time, and no one really knows what the world will be like when you have grandchildren of your own.
But it is fun to guess what it may be like, and that is what this book is about. It is one person’s idea of how people will live in the year 2010. When you have read it, you can decide whether or not you would like it that way, or what you would do to make it different.
